Maple Bourbon Apple Jam
This jam combines the sweetness of apples with rich maple syrup and a splash of bourbon for depth. A vanilla bean ties it all together, creating a luxurious spread that’s perfect for fall breakfasts and holiday cheeseboards.
Ingredients
- 4 lbs apples, peeled, cored and diced
- 1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine apples, maple syrup, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla bean seeds and pod in a jam pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until apples are soft, about 20 minutes.
- Mash with a potato masher for a chunky texture. Stir in bourbon and continue simmering until thickened.
- Remove the vanilla pod. Ladle jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
- Process jars in a boiling-water bath for 10 minutes. Let cool and check seals before storing.
A subtle bourbon note sets this jam apart. Serve it with sharp cheddar or dollop it on pancakes for a special breakfast.
