Sweet figs and tangy balsamic vinegar form a sophisticated jam that pairs wonderfully with cheese and charcuterie.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh figs, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine figs, sugar, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and cinnamon in a preserving pan.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until figs break down and jam thickens, about 30 minutes.
- Mash or puree for desired texture.
- Pour jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
- Process in a boiling-water bath for 10 minutes. Let cool and store.
Serve this jam with cheese boards, on crostini or as a glaze for roasted vegetables.
