Mulled Wine Jelly

Capture the essence of mulled wine in a jewel-toned jelly. This holiday treat combines red wine with spices and citrus for a sophisticated spread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry red wine
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1 package liquid pectin

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine wine, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves and orange zest. Bring to a boil.
  2. Boil for 5 minutes to infuse flavors, then remove spices.
  3. Stir in pectin and return to a rolling boil for 1 minute.
  4. Ladle hot jelly into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
  5. Process for 10 minutes in boiling water. Cool and allow to set.

Serve this elegant jelly with cheese plates, stir it into cocktails or use it as a glaze for roasted meats.
