Mulled Wine Jelly
Capture the essence of mulled wine in a jewel-toned jelly. This holiday treat combines red wine with spices and citrus for a sophisticated spread.
Ingredients
- 2 cups dry red wine
- 2 cups apple juice
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves
- Zest of one orange
- 1 package liquid pectin
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine wine, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves and orange zest. Bring to a boil.
- Boil for 5 minutes to infuse flavors, then remove spices.
- Stir in pectin and return to a rolling boil for 1 minute.
- Ladle hot jelly into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
- Process for 10 minutes in boiling water. Cool and allow to set.
Serve this elegant jelly with cheese plates, stir it into cocktails or use it as a glaze for roasted meats.
