Cranberry Fig Chutney

Tart cranberries and sweet figs come together in a chutney spiced with ginger and cloves. It’s an excellent accompaniment to holiday roasts or cheese plates.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried figs, chopped
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Combine figs, cranberries, onion, vinegar, sugar, ginger and cloves in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until fruit softens and mixture thickens, about 30 minutes.
  3. Ladle hot chutney into sterilized jars, leaving 1/2-inch headspace.
  4. Seal and process in boiling water for 15 minutes.
  5. Cool and store for at least two weeks to allow flavors to meld.

Serve this chutney with roast turkey, pork or alongside a wedge of blue cheese.
