Setting Up a Canning Station at Home
Canning can quickly become chaotic if you’re rummaging for tools or tripping over hot jars. Create a workspace where everything has a place and flows logically.
**Station Checklist:**
– **Designate zones:** One area for prepping ingredients, one for filling jars and another near the stove for processing.
– **Use sturdy surfaces:** A counter or table that can support the weight of full jars and a water bath canner.
– **Arrange tools within reach:** Keep your funnel, ladle, jar lifter and headspace tool in a tray so they’re easy to grab.
– **Prepare cooling area:** Place a towel or rack near your stove where processed jars can rest undisturbed.
