Pear Almond Jam
Delicate pears meet nutty almonds in this refined jam. A splash of amaretto or almond extract enhances the flavor.
Ingredients
- 5 cups diced pears
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- Combine pears, sugar and lemon juice in a pot. Bring to a boil and cook until pears soften.
- Stir in almond extract and continue simmering until jam thickens.
- Add sliced almonds just before filling jars.
- Ladle jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe rims and seal.
- Process in a boiling-water bath for 10 minutes.
Spread this jam on croissants or pair it with soft cheeses for an elegant appetizer.
