Spiced Apple Cider Syrup
Capture the cozy flavors of mulled cider in a thick syrup. This concentrated syrup is ideal for drizzling over pancakes, stirring into cocktails or sweetening tea.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh apple cider
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole cloves
- 3 slices fresh ginger
Instructions
- Place cider, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves and ginger in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat and simmer until the liquid reduces by half and becomes syrupy, about 30–40 minutes.
- Remove spices with a slotted spoon and test the syrup by placing a drop on a cold plate—it should coat the plate.
- Pour hot syrup into sterilized jars or bottles and seal.
- Let cool; refrigerate and use within one month.
Use this syrup to sweeten oatmeal, glaze baked apples or create spiced cocktails. A little goes a long way.
