Classic Guacamole

Classic Guacamole

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ripe tomato, diced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced for some heat

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  2. Mash the Avocados: Use a fork to mash the avocado until it reaches your preferred level of creaminess. You can leave it slightly chunky or make it completely smooth.
  3. Add Lime Juice: Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mashed avocado and stir to combine. The lime juice not only adds flavor but also helps prevent the avocado from browning.
  4. Incorporate the Aromatics: Add the finely diced onion, minced garlic, and optional minced jalapeño (for some heat) to the mixture. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  5. Fold in Tomatoes and Cilantro: Gently fold in the diced tomatoes and chopped fresh cilantro. This adds a burst of freshness and color to the guacamole.
  6. Season and Serve: Season the guacamole with salt and pepper to taste. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  7. Chill (Optional): If you have time, refrigerate the guacamole for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. However, you can serve it immediately if you can't wait!
  8. Serve: Serve your classic guacamole with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, nachos, or grilled meats, or as a side dish for Mexican-inspired meals.

Enjoy this homemade classic guacamole with its creamy texture and vibrant flavors. It's a perfect dip for parties or a delicious accompaniment to your favorite Mexican dishes!
